Islam va Pazhuheshhaye Tarbiyati

The present paper compares between the emotional intelligence of two unmarried groups, one having relations with the opposite sex and another having no such relations. These two groups have been selected form among unmarried individuals (male and female) aging 17-39 in Tehran. 120 unmarried individuals (60 females and 60 males) in Tehran have been selected randomly for this research in which the Bar-on Emotional Intelligence test has been used. After gathering the questionnaires, the quantitative data have been tested for independent groups, using T-statistical method. The important findings show that the mean scores of these two groups (one having relations with opposite sex and the other not having such relations) have an overall significant difference in such variables as problem-solving, self-actualization, realism, optimism, self-esteem, controlling the impulsion, flexibility, self –expression, and general emotional intelligence, and that this difference is in favor of the group that has no relations with opposite sex. There is no difference between these two groups in terms of other variables.
