Abstract:
This article seeks to examine the howness of the teaching of religious zeal in the Religion and Life school textbooks of the secondary education to identify their obvious and missed components. Using a qualitative content analysis and regardless of sampling this paper examined all the text, pictures and exercises of these books. The research population of this paper was three textbooks on Religion and Life in the secondary education in the academic year 2020-2021. The measurement tool was a researcher-made content analysis checklist which was used by experts to ensure its face and content validity and also Scott method was used to ensure its reliability. The results show that components of religious zeal are included in the school textbooks; but things like reacting to those who insult the sacred (Quran, Prophet and Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT), mosques and holy places), confrontation with hypocrisy, struggle and defense to keep religion and religious values alive, incompatibility in the principles of religion and non-debauchery are neglected. Actually, this neglection can have some effects such as soft domination of enemies, creating divisions, desecration of divine rites, creating despair and hopelessness about standing up for the truth, increasing sin, social harms and taking the path of unrestrainedness
