Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to analyze elementary school textbooks to see how much they take the educational components of Letter thirty-one of Nahj al-Balaghah into consideration. The research method is descriptive and content analysis type. The statistical population of the study consists of all the elementary school textbooks published in the 2018-2019 school year. Fifteen versions of three books titled Hediyehaay-e Aseman (gifts from heaven), Farsi (Persian language), and Motale’at-e Ejtemaaee (social studies) were chosen through purposive sampling. The findings of the study show that in elementary school, the educational components of the Letter thirty-one of Nahj al-Balaghah are mentioned 315 times in total. In elementary school, "accepting the leadership of the prophets and their successors" with 75 frequencies, "knowing God, God’s oneness (tawheed), monotheism and remembering God " with 60 frequencies, "doing the obligatory acts" with 29 frequencies, "praying and asking God" with 21 frequencies, "doing good to others" with 19 frequencies," "acquiring useful knowledge" with 15 frequencies, "knowing the neighbors and respecting them" with 13 frequencies, "knowing the manners of friendship and respecting the rights of friends" with 13 frequencies are the most mentioned components. Besides, the components of "the necessity of remembering death" "trusting God", ”avoiding miserliness", "avoiding greed, avarice, following desires, and trusting the wishes", “learning lessons from the events of the time and history", "considering the self a yardstick against which others are to be judged", and "moderation in affairs" are not mentioned at all
