An increasing number of marriages end in divorce in the early years of a couple living together indicate that the marriage candidates do not have a good insight into various matters in choosing a spouse. Islam as a universal religion, which promises to ensure man’s happiness, proposes various criteria for choosing a spouse that pave the ground for the establishment of a good family. This article seeks to study the criteria for choosing a spouse from the Islamic point of view. These criteria can be classified under the following general topics: 1. Religiousness and faith 2. Moral values 3. Physical characteristics 4. Family background 5. Economic status 6. Social background Islam lays emphasis on the fact that the marriage partners should be equal in terms of the above-mentioned factors which ensures the stability of marriage; the Arabic term ‘kofw’ signifies the idea of marital equality or equal partners. .However, the attitudinal views of Islam has resulted in giving a special definition for marriage partners’ being “kufw”. Positive attitude to some aspects of ‘equal partnership’ and negative attitude to some other aspects represent Muslim legislators’ efforts in changing the cultural attitude to the idea of equal partnership انتخاب همسر مرحله ای مهم و سرنوشت ساز در تحقق ازدواج موفق محسوب می شود. روند رو به تزاید طلاق در سال های نخست زندگی مشترک، بیانگر نشانگر نقصان بینش داوطلبان ازدواج در مسایل گوناگون از جمله امور مربوط به انتخاب همسر است. اسلام این مکتب حیات بخش که سعادت انسان را تضمین می کند، در خصوص موضوع انتخاب همسر معیار های متعددی را ارائه کرده که در نظر داشتن آنها زمینه ساز تاسیس خانواده مطلوب به شمار می رود. در این مقاله، معیارهای انتخاب همسر از دیدگاه اسلام در قالب شش دسته کلی تحت عناوین دینداری و ایمان، ارزش های اخلاقی، خصوصیات جسمی، صلاحیت خانوادگی، خصوصیات اقتصادی و ویژگی های اجتماعی مورد بررسی قرار گرفته است. در اسلام، بر اصل همسان همسری به عنوان معیار همسر گزینی و ضامن انسجام خانواده، در ذیل عنوان«کفویت» تأکید شده است. اما دیدگاه های ارزشی اسلام به ارائه تعریف خاصی از کفویت زن و شوهر انجامیده است. برخورد ایجابی با برخی جنبه های همسان همسری و برخورد سلبی با جنبه های دیگر (همسانی قومی، نژادی و طبقاتی)، نشان دهنده کوشش قانون گذار اسلام در جهت تغییر نگرش های فرهنگی نسبت به موضوع همسان همسری است . https://eslampajoheshha.nashriyat.ir/sites/eslampajoheshha.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/2951.pdf
